Our Expertise
Cutting edge technology, automatic movements renowned for their excellence and high-quality materials are the three pillars on which Mido’s unique expertise rests. In addition, the refined, understated designs of Mido timepieces endow them with a resolutely timeless quality.
Automatic watch movements
MIDO watch movements combine all of watchmaking tradition's strict criteria. The models of most of the collections are equipped with a transparent case back showing the mechanical and aesthetic beauty of the Swiss watch movements. Our timepieces are endowed with an oscillating weight decorated with Geneva Stripes and MIDO logo, guilloché or circular-grained bridges, or blued screws. MIDO also offers a series of chronometers whose conformity is certified by a neutral testing bureau that provides an official certification after rigorous testing. Each chronograph watch is unique and identified by an engraved number on the movement.
Chronometer COSC
The "Chronometer" certification guarantees the high accuracy of a watch or a movement.
The tests run by the COSC include the verification of the engraved number on the watch movement and controls in a testing environment. Each movement is individually tested following a strict procedure that lasts several days in five positions and at different temperatures (8°C, 23°C and 38°C). Over 15 days, the movements go though daily controls. Every day - including Saturday and Sunday - the instruments are measured and wound. If it meets the standards, the movement is "Chronometer" certified.

Caliber 80 Chronometer Silicon
MIDO decided to enhance its flagship movement – the Caliber 80 – with a silicon balance-spring.
In addition to its anti-magnetic properties, this component, which is essential in luxury watchmaking, offers far greater long-term accuracy than a standard balance-spring and better shock-resistance. It is a COSC-certified chronometer watch and offers an exceptional autonomy of up to 80 hours of power reserve.

Caliber 80 Big Date
To celebrate the Big Date MIDO watch that represents its 100th anniversary, MIDO developed an exclusive automatic movement with a big date based on its Caliber 80. In addition to its original date display, it offers formidable autonomy, with up to 80 hours of power reserve. Finely decorated with an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva Stripes and the MIDO logo, it can be admired through the transparent sapphire glass case back of the Commander Big Date and Baroncelli Big Date.
Caliber 80 Datometer
The Caliber 80 Datometer is an automatic watch movement with an exclusive MIDO date indicator based on its Caliber 80, which offers up to 80 hours of power reserve. It can be admired through the transparent sapphire case back of the Multifort Datometer.
Caliber 80
The Caliber 80 from MIDO is a next-generation automatic watch movement which offers up to 80 hours of power reserve, twice as much as a regular calibre. It is also available as a chronometer that has been officially certified by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) for its superior accuracy.
Caliber 60
The Caliber 60 is an automatic chronograph watch movement at the cutting edge of watchmaking innovation that offers up to 60 hours of power reserve, compared to approximately 48 hours on a standard version.
Diamonds
Dazzling symbols of eternal elegance, diamonds imbue a creation with a timeless air that spans the ages. Their exquisite shimmer adds to the beauty of an excellent design or brings an impressive feminine touch to an understated watch model. Each Mido diamond-set creation comes with a certificate that states the number of diamonds, their colour, quality and number of carats.
Gold
This classic precious metal is an eternal symbol of sublime beauty and exclusivity. MIDO crafts its gold watch creations from solid 18-carat gold to give them a timeless aesthetic dressed in beautiful warm tones. The material’s inimitable gentle glimmer adorns the wrist with certain sophistication and immediately catches the eye with its unquestionable elegance.
Titanium
This high-tech metal offers countless advantages. MIDO has drawn on its applications in the aerospace and medical fields to create lightweight, hypoallergenic and extremely robust watches that are supremely comfortable to wear. The ocean’s depths prove no obstacle as titanium is particularly resistant to seawater and does not corrode, allowing MIDO’s creations to withstand the toughest conditions.
Stainless steel
MIDO exclusively uses high-grade 316L stainless steel for its steel components to ensure complete and continued compatibility with the skin. This material resists corrosion, is unaffected by magnetic fields and demonstrates excellent durability, making MIDO’s stainless steel watches enduring creations that can stand the test of time and weather the elements. The metal’s many technical properties are complemented by its sleek, extremely pleasing aesthetics, enabling a wide range of uses.
Mother-of-pearl
A wonder of nature, mother-of-pearl is formed from the exquisitely arranged layers of calcium carbonate found inside certain shells. This distinctive material captures the light and reflects it in beautiful iridescent waves. As every piece of mother-of-pearl is as unique as a fingerprint, each dial adorned with it becomes one of a kind. Its shimmering shades range from pure white to deep midnight blue and never fail to captivate the lucky beholder.
Watch glass
MIDO’s sapphire crystal glass reveals its spectacular dials in sharp relief. They afford excellent readability in a range of conditions while perfectly complementing the watches' elegant design. Strong and shock-resistant, they are made to last, maintaining their exceptional transparency for many years.
DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon)
DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) is a coating that is frequently used in watchmaking. Employing plasma-based vacuum deposition techniques, an inert gas is used to deposit very thin layers – about 1 nanometre thick – of graphite (carbon) and diamond particles. It offers incomparable physical properties that defy the passage of time: exceptional resistance to wear and tear thanks to its hardness and flexibility, and extraordinary stability. In addition, DLC offers an anthracite or deep black finish that enhances the aesthetics of the watch.
PVD coating
The extremely technical process of Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coats watch components in a strong, impurity-free film to ensure continued resistance to corrosion. This microscopically thin layer boosts the watch’s hardness and robustness while enhancing its elegant aesthetics in beautiful shades of black, pink gold colour or yellow gold colour. Its hypoallergenic properties increase its universal appeal and allow for a range of applications.
Leather
MIDO uses only authentic hides for its natural leather straps. Carefully crafted and assembled by hand, they are comfortable and supple to wear as well as offering superior resistance. The timeless style of MIDO’s genuine leather straps is enhanced by high-end finishes for elegant, on-trend or sporty looks.
Patina
A patina is a unique pattern formed on natural leather over time. MIDO uses this leather for its beautiful natural characteristics and its shimmering, soft sheen. Every patina is different and makes your watch uniquely your own, as it accompanies you in your day-to-day life. This remarkably poetic effect can only be achieved with continued and loving wear.
Milanese mesh
Moving seamlessly with the motions of the wrist, Milanese mesh envelops the skin to give the unique feel of a leather strap, but crafted from sleek and sophisticated metal. Its distinctive mesh structure affords it superior breathability and a characteristic look that is extremely desired. First produced in the city of Milan in the 19th century, this material channels classic Italian elegance and a timeless aesthetic.
Rubber
MIDO’s high-quality rubber straps instantly inject any piece with a healthy dose of sporty style. Rubber’s inimitable aesthetics are enhanced by its many technical assets, which include high resistance and antiallergenic properties. Its light weight, comfort and innate water-resistance naturally lend it to diving watches and make it a must-have for any stylish yet practical sporty MIDO piece.
